Bears Defeat Texans in Weather-Shortened Hall of Fame Game

Johnson Responds to Drop with 20-Yard Reception

CANTON, Ohio - With their starters watching from the sideline in street clothes, the Chicago Bears opened the preseason with a storm-shortened 21-17 win against the Houston Texans in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.

The game was called with 3:40 remaining in the third quarter due to lightning in the area. The Bears led 21-10 at the time.

The Bears got a 1-yard touchdown run from running back Ryan Nall and a 45-yard field goal from kicker Cairo Santos in the first quarter. Quarterback Justin Fields led the Bears on a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter, which was capped by a 2-yard touchdown run from running back Khalil Herbert.

The Texans scored their only touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run by running back Dameon Pierce in the second quarter. They also kicked a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Bears wide receiver N'Keal Harry dropped the first pass that came his way Thursday night from third-string quarterback Brett Rypien but responded with a 20-yard reception on the next play.
